CURRENT STATE OF SCIENTIFIC DEVELOPMENT OF THE PROBLEM OF CRIMINAL ENSURANCE OF INTEGRITY IN THE SPHERE OF SPORTS

Abstract

This scientific article is devoted to researching the state of development of the problem of criminological assurance of integrity in the field of sports. The author analyzes domestic scientific developments that are in one way or another related to research on crime in the field of sports in Ukraine. The author focuses on the fact that the ratification of the Council of Europe Convention on the Manipulation of Sports Competitions (Magglingen/Macolin, September 18, 2014) by most European countries indicates that combating crime in the field of sports is an urgent problem of modern society. It is emphasized that an analysis of the current state of scientific research on crime in Ukrainian sports makes it possible to identify issues that have not yet been studied or have been studied only partially, as well as to form a vector of promising directions for improving criminological support for integrity in Ukrainian sports. All this necessitates and prioritizes scientific research on the prevention of criminal offenses in this area. An analysis of domestic scientific developments related to research on crime in the field of sports in Ukraine has revealed separately formed areas of scientific research, each with its own specific characteristics. Among them, the following should be highlighted: 1) research in the field of unlawful influence on the results of official sports competitions; 2) research in the field of violations of the ban on sports betting; 3) research in the field of combating doping; 4) research in the field of sports law; 5) interdisciplinary research in related fields of knowledge, in particular in the field of knowledge 11 “Mathematics and Statistics” in the specialty 113 “Applied Mathematics” which can be used for modeling and analyzing criminogenic phenomena in the field of sports. Thus, the issue of criminological integrity in sports has now gone beyond the scope of criminology. Individual aspects of this problem are being studied by domestic scholars in related fields of law and science. At the same time, the scientific achievements of the above-mentioned scholars cover only certain aspects of criminological integrity in sports. With this in mind, it is fair to say that there is a clear need for comprehensive scientific research on criminological integrity in Ukrainian sports.
